Desmond Hall

There have been castles of both timber and stone on this ground since the 13th century and The Desmond Banqueting Hall is an imposing two-storey structure that is the most notable historical feature of Newcastle West town and was used by the Earls of Desmond for banqueting and entertainment.



The Hall, vaulted lower chamber and adjoining tower were all constructed during the 15th century and restored medieval features include and oak musicians' gallery and a limestone hooded fireplace.

Opening Time:

Daily 24th May-29th August, 10am-6pm. Last admission 45 minutes before closing.
