The Courtyard at Clonalis

Standing on the land that has been the home of the O’Conors of Connacht for 1,500 years, this 45-room Victorian Italianate mansion may seem a little daunting on arrival, but it’s magic - and the hospitable owners, Pyers and Marguerite O’Conor-Nash, clearly relish sharing their rich and varied history with guests, who are welcome to browse through their fascinating archive. Amazing heirlooms include a copy of the last Brehon Law judgment (handed down about 1580) and also Carolan’s Harp.



The Courtyard at Clonalis has 4 self catering cottages which retain all the elegance of the Georgian period. These superb holiday homes are comfortable residences with all modern comforts.

The cottages at Clonalis enable our guests to enjoy a home from home experience in the peace and tranquility of Clonalis Estate disturbed only by birdsong and the hum of bees.



Overall they can accommodate 25 people in their Self Catering Cottages making Clonalis ideal for groups of family or friends wanting to holiday together or to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, etc.



The Old Forge at Clonalis has been restored to provide a large self-contained room that offers groups, who book our cottages, the facility to dine together.


The Steward's House



This is the largest cottage and is situated in the courtyard. This holiday cottage can accomodate 8 people and comprises of 4 bedrooms: 2 doubles and 2 twins and 1 bathroom and 1 shower room.



There is an attractive sitting room and an additional dining room/sitting room with period fire place. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher and a washing machine. There is also a clothes dryer on site. Each cottage has a hair dryer, dvd and cd player.



There is an outside patio and b.b.q. area, a hard tennis court and games room for guests' use.

The Mew's Cottage



This is our smallest holiday cottage and is full of charm and period pieces. The cottage has 3 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 single and a twin room. It has an upstairs shower room and lavatory as well as downstairs facilities.



The beamed sitting room has an open fire place and is a comfortable cosy room. The kitchen/dining area is well equipped with a washing machine and there is a clothes dryer on site. The cottage has a hair dryer, cd and dvd player.



There is an outside patio and b.b.q. area, a hard tennis court and games room for guests' use.

The Garden & Orchard cottages are situated in the walled garden of Clonalis facing due west ensuring maximum sun light. The Walled Garden has been replanted with native Irish apple trees and there is a large play area for children.



There is also a hard tennis court, b.b.q. area and games room available for guests' use.





The Garden Cottage



This self catering cottage sleeps up to six people and comprises of two twin bedrooms and one double room all having either a shower or bathroom ensuite. The Orchard Cottage



This cottage sleeps up to six people and comprises of two twin bedrooms and one double room all having either a shower or bathroom ensuite. Downstairs has an open plan kitchen/dining area with open fireplace and a sunny comfortable sitting room with wonderful views into the Orchard. The Orchard Cottage is equipped to the highest standards.



At Clonalis we have four self catering cottages including The Orchard Cottage. Overall we can accommodate 25 people in all of our Self Catering Cottages making Clonalis ideal for groups of family or friends wanting to holiday together or to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, etc.

The Old Forge & The Potting Shed



The Old Forge at Clonalis has been restored to provide a large self-contained room that offers groups, who book our cottages, the facility to dine together. Guests can opt for a self catering basis or if preferred, a catering service can be provided. The Old Forge has seating for 25 and has been sensitively restored with a large welcoming fireplace and sloping timber ceiling.



The size and location of the Old Forge also makes it an ideal location for groups interested in workshop weekends, as a venue for courses or as an interesting alternative for business meetings/groups.



The Potting Shed has also been restored and is now available to guests as a games room with facilities for table tennis/billiards, etc - Good family fun!



We also have a hard tennis court for guests' use.



The Dairy has been made into a drying room for fishermen. Fishing guests can sort and store their tackle in The Dairy.





Overall we can accommodate 25 people in all of our Self Catering Cottages. A Holiday Rental at Clonalis, combined with the superb facilities provided in The Old Forge, The Potting Shed and the Dairy is ideal for groups of family or friends wanting to holiday together or to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, etc.





Rates are based on on one weeks self-catering letting (Saturday to Saturday)



We can arrange weekend breaks



A refundable deposit for breakages is required to be paid on arrival and will be returned on departure, if not required.



We are are offering a 10% discount for return guests.



On arrival guests will find a welcome pack with home-made treats.
