Railway Cottage

Railway Lodge is an exceptional country home, in the heart of Western Ireland's Connemara mountainous region. It takes its name from the nearby disused Galway to Clifden railway which closed in 1936. It was 60 years later, in 1996, that the Lodge was built for the proprietor, Carmel Geoghegan, on a plot within her family's farm. Her father, Paddy, lives near-by and breeds the famous Connemara Ponies as his father did before him.

Railway Cottage is the perfect addition to Railway Lodge carrying on its same style, peaceful ambiance and comfort. Polished wooden floors, antique pine furniture and pure Irish linen are used throughout. Enjoy Carmel's warm welcome with the added privacy of your own cottage. Railway Cottage is completely self-contained with its own kitchen, sitting room, double bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

The kitchen contains all the comforts of home: cooker & hob, dishwasher and washer & dryer. For longer stays, enjoy cooking for yourself- though Carmel always stocks the basics (coffee/ tea, milk, farm-fresh eggs, etc.) along with some of her home-baked breads from the Lodge! TV & DVD player are also installed in the cottage sitting room for those rainy days.

The private patio is to the side with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are bbq facilities and patio table and chairs for a comfortable evening cook-out.
