Enniscoe House - Courtyard Houses

In parkland and mature woods on the shores of Lough Conn, Enniscoe House was built by ancestors of the present owner, Susan Kellett, who settled here in the 1660s, and is a very special place for anglers and other visitors with a natural empathy for the untamed wildness of the area.

The house is surrounded by beautiful woodlands, with a network of paths, and there are restored walled gardens (both ornamental and productive one is run commercially as an organic market garden), which are open to the public and have tea-rooms and a shop.

There is brown trout fishing on Lough Conn and other trout and salmon fishing nearby; boats, ghillies, tuition and hire of equipment can be arranged.

HORSE HOUSE ONE is a three bedroom apartment situated in the courtyard behind Enniscoe House. This is a new conversion of part of the old stable buildings.

Down stairs: Entrance Hall

Sitting room, with open fireplace. There are double doors opening onto the garden and woodland area behind the courtyard. There is a small paved area and paths leading through the woods to the lake.

Kitchen: opens off the sitting room. It is well equipped, with an electric cooker, fridge and dish washer.

Bedroom with double bed, en suite toilet and shower room. Suitable for use by a disabled person. All doors downstairs are wide enough for wheelchair access.

Upstairs: large landing that can be used as a second sitting area. 2 large bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom, and a double and a single bed. One room has a dormer window, with view over the woodland and garden. The other has a roof light window.

Heating is by storage and convector heaters. The apartment is furnished in a simple farm house style, but it is comfortable and attractive, great character is given to the building by the retention of the old ventilators, which have been glazed, and provide extra light here and there. Television (RTE1 & RTE2 only)
