Waterford Castle Golf Club

Waterford Castle Golf Club is truly unique as Ireland's only island golf resort. Overall, the layout reveals attractive rolling fairways and subtle contoured greens, magnificently blended into the sensational setting of this Island Dream!

On this privately owned 310 acre island surrounded by the river Suir, home of the world renowned Waterford Castle Hotel, sits a wonderful parkland golf course. Designed by Des Smyth, former Ryder Cup player, and opened in 1992, this 18-hole, 6,814 yard par 72 championship golf course leads you through mature woodland and parkland.

The layout is excellent with varying requirements and challenges to be found throughout the course. Despite being completely surrounded by water Waterford Castle has an additional four internal water features on the second, third - which requires the first chot to carry 170 yards of water -, fourth and sixteenth - a 205 yard par 3 adjacent to the lake - holes. The index 1, 9th hole, is a tough par 4 that dog legs requiring an accurate tee shot followed by a difficult iron up hill to the green.
