The Championship Course

The Christy O'Connor Jnr. Championship course is a first class test of golf in a wonderful parkland setting and the combination of perfectly manicured fairways, superb putting greens and beautiful mature trees offer the golfer a wonderful and inspiring golfing experience.

The 18th hole on The Championship course is one of the great finishing holes in Ireland and with its imposing lakes and gushing fountain it has a real Belfry feel to it. Christy O'Connor Jnr reckons "The 16th, 17th and 18th represent one of the best finishing stretches in Ireland".

Course Highlights

8th Hole

This hole measures 182 yards from the championship tee and needs a lot of focus by the golfer not to fall into the traps that await.
With water from tee to green and out of bounds down the right hand side, it takes a confident strike to land the ball on the green and miss the bunkers that lie in wait for an off centre shot.

18th Hole - "The O'Connor Pass"

The 18th Hole is one of the great finishing holes in Ireland. As the golfer stands on the tee-box they are faced with an inspirational par four that demands an acute level of accuracy.

To successfully hit the fairway from the tee the golfer must manoeuvre their ball through a narrow gap that is protected by mature trees on both sides while at the same time avoiding the first of two lakes that runs down the left hand side of the fairway.

Having successfully hit the fairway the golfer is then faced with a daunting second shot to the green with the main obstacle being a lake that runs right up to the front edge of the green. A good score at this hole will certainly make the 19th hole even more enjoyable.

The Lake Course

With its various water features and impressive bunkering offers golfers a memorable and enjoyable round of golf. This course is highly regarded for both its layout and its contoured greens which are considered to be amongst the best in Ireland.

Their high quality will add an extra dimension of enjoyment to your experience. Indeed the Lakes course encourages a high level of strategic play for golfers and risk and reward is a key consideration for every shot.

South County Golf Club

South County Golf Club - Brittas County Dublin Ireland The South County Golf Club is a Dr. Nick Bielenberg designed championship parkland golf course set amongst the foot hills of the Dublin Mountains. It is a par 72 parkland course measuring 7,014 yards from the tips.

Use of the landscape is a key feature of The South County Golf Club and this is truly apparent as the golfer ambles through the front nine surrounded by rolling hills and heather clad plains. The subtlety and spleandour of the course is highlighted by the excellent use of water throughout. This is no more amply demonstrated than on the 15th fairway where the Brittas River crosses no fewer than 3 times.

Throughout the round the player will be teased and tested by disguised landing areas, deceptive carries and strategically placed bunkers. Indeed the course becomes noticeably more penal and hazard strewn as the round comes to an end. In this renowned finishing stretch you need to display equal measures of caution and courage in order to reach the sanctuary of the clubhouse intact.
