Competing with cut price hotels has been no joke for the owners of guesthouses and B&Bs in recent years, but the best have USPs that allow them to thrive regardless of any such challenges.

You wouldn’t think it to meet the lovely owners of this legendary guesthouse overlooking Dingle Bay, but John and Mary Curran’s Greenmount House has been going since 1977...

We’ve been visiting for the best part of thirty years and not only is it a great place to stay but they’ve played a big part in establishing the reputation of their town for quality accommodation - and this is not the first of our awards they’ve received.

It’s a place that never stands still, with adding new rooms and constant refurbishment just part of they way they do things around here.

The next generation is coming on board now, and it’s very clear to meet John and Mary’s daughter, Maria, that the hospitality gene is well and truly doing its thing - the warmth, professionalism, meticulous housekeeping and terrific breakfasts are all better than ever - and what a view!
