What with golf, cycling (bike hire available), great beaches and walking - and, perhaps, also the recent attraction of our last Newcomer of the Year, Harry’s Shack - Portstewart is a very popular place to be based when visiting the Causeway Coast.
The town is blessed with a choice of excellent places to stay and - although the location is not quite waterside and, at first glance, it seems to be quite an ordinary house - you won’t do better than Debbie Blaney’s lovely B&B.
There’s a sunny deck to relax on in fine weather, a comfy sitting room with an open fire for chilly days, and the immaculate rooms - all spacious and elegantly furnished - are extremely comfortable.
But it’s all the little things that really make it special - especially Debbie’s genuinely hospitable way with people that makes everyone feel really welcome and instantly at home, and her terrific breakfasts which offer unusual options like Nutri-bullet smoothies alongside more traditional choices, all thoughtfully set up so you can enjoy the beach and the sea while you plan the day ahead.
