Set among peaceful lakes, rolling hills and picturesque homes, this sanctuary for golf lovers has blended an exciting challenge and pure pleasure into a layout of outstanding beauty. The Broadmeadow River flows beside the course and water comes into play on all but 6 holes.

Built around a period house and only a few minutes’ drive from Dublin Airport, this recently opened hotel enjoys a country setting and has already earned an enviable reputation for its friendly helpful staff and for good food, in both the bar and restaurant, McLoughlins.

It is the only hotel in the area offering golf, leisure facilities and beauty therapies - a great destination for golfers and, when you add a high level of comfort and a country house ambience, it’s easy to see why it also makes a lovely wedding venues.

There are several churches to choose from in the area - including one very pretty small church nearby - and wedding blessings are possible in the hotel. A dedicated event planner liaises with the couple in the lead up to the wedding, which begins with a drinks reception in the spacious lounge bar followed by a wedding banquet in a first floor function room, where flowers on tables are included as part of the price but other decoration is up to the couple.

No piper or other special welcome is included (or necessary, as the venue is very relaxed), and it is up to the bride and groom to organise any special transport requirements, and the wedding cake.

Hollywood Lakes Golf Club

The golf course at Hollywood Lakes is truly a test for every category of golfer. Currently there are 11 lakes and water features that sees water impact on 9 out of the 18 holes.

Combine this element of the design with a multitude of trees and it is easy to see where the challenge emanates from. Designed by Mel Flanagan, who made major improvements during 2002, this 18-hole parkland golf course measures 6,707 yards from the championship tees including a 641 yard par 5 and comprises a par of 72.

Over the last five years the course has been upgraded with an additional 25 bunkers, several new pathways, six new water features and seven new tee boxes which makes for a pleasant and challenging test of golf for players of all standards. Set on south facing and well drained sloping lands, this parkland course is in play all year round.

A full bar and catering service is available in the friendly atmosphere of the clubhouse.

Hollywood Lakes Golf Club is located on the outskirts of Ballyboughal village, in North County Dublin. It lies within a 20 minute drive from Dublin Airport. Consequently, it is ideally located for golfers travelling from abroad.

Saint Margarets Golf Club

St. Maragret's Golf Club is a challenging 18 hole parkland golf course that sees water featuring heavily. It boasts big dramatic holes like the roller coaster twelfth, which rolls between two lakes and across a babbling brook to a majestically elevated green.

As well as awesome struggles there are broad forgiving fairways, neat par threes and greens that play very true on this fascinating course. As you cross a stream on stepping stones, or step back to admire your approach landing inches from the pin, you'll find more to enjoy every day in St. Margaret's.

Starting indoors, the modern clubhouse features spacious men’s and lady’s locker rooms, fine dining and bar facilities, and wide screens on which to watch the pros play, after your round. The pro-shop carries everything the golfer needs for a day on the course, from a wide range of top brand clothing and rain gear, to balls, gloves and accessories.

Moving outside, St. Margaret’s practice facilities are unsurpassed. Golfers can warm up on the natural grass driving range, or in the covered practice bays. Two short game areas with bunkers and an USGA spec 18-hole putting green are also available to finely tune the short game, before or after the game.

PGA Professionals Gary Kearney and John Kelly are available for tuition to members and visitors all year round.
