Any parent worried about the weather when deciding whether to holiday in Ireland, should consider the growing number of hotels that have opted to specialise in family holidays. West Cork is an ever-popular destination and many happy families vote with their feet by heading back to the this hotel, every year.
And no wonder - this exceptionally family-friendly hotel on the edge of Clonakilty town is just the kind of place to holiday with kids, and a former winner of our Family Friendly Hotel Award. There’s masses to do and visit nearby, including the West Cork Model Railway Village which has an old-style train that picks people up at the hotel en route to exploring Clonakilty and nearby Inchydoney (where there’s a blue flag beach).
Accommodation is regularly refurbished and large family and interconnecting rooms all have direct dial telephone, TV, and tea/ coffee making facilities among many other facilities. This very family-focused hotel has 20 two-bedroom suites, seventeen extra spacious executive family rooms (each with a double and 2 single beds) and five holiday homes.
Fantastic on-site facilities have always been a big attraction here and they continue to improve, with a Jungle Gym area (over 2 levels, with a toddler area and one for 4-12 year olds) and also a Teen Zone (with Xboxes, Playstations, air hockey etc) among the more recently added choices. In summer and all mid-term breaks a Kids Kamp offers masses of activities for 5-14 year-olds, mainly held outdoors if possible.
The food is also family-focused, of course, and - very unusually - there is not just a kids' menu, but three menus for different age groups (toddler, children and young adult), and that says it all really.
Fun for kids and relaxing for parents – and Clonakilty’s on the doorstep for grown up evenings out, too.
