McMenamin's Townhouse

Seamus and Kay McMenamin’s B&B in Wexford town has been one of the most highly-regarded places to stay in this area for many years, making a useful first or last night overnight stop for travellers on the Rosslare ferry (15 minutes), as a base for the Wexford Opera, or for a short break exploring this fascinating corner of Ireland.

This hospitable duo recently moved around the corner to this beautiful Victorian terrace house, which was completely restored and beautifully furnished, with quality beds and bedding, and everything that you need to be comfortable away from home, including TV and tea/coffee-making facilities.

The McMenamins’ considerable local knowledge is generously passed on to guests and this, together with a really good breakfast, gets you off to a good start and helps to make the most of every day: quite extensive menus include a range of fruits and juices, home-made yoghurts, old-fashioned treats like kippers and also fresh local fish such as delicious fillets of plaice, lambs’ kidneys in sherry sauce, omelettes or pancakes - all served with a choice of several freshly baked breads and home-made preserves, including an excellent marmalade and unusual jams such as loganberry.

A McMenamin breakfast is always beautifully prepared and presented, and cooked dishes served piping hot: you will want to return as soon as possible.

* McMenamin’s was our B&B of the Year in 2008.
