In an area that has so much to offer, in terms of natural beauty and activities like golf, angling and walking, McGrory’s would make an ideal base.
An inn in the true sense of the word, offering rest and refreshment to travellers, this north-western institution was established in 1924 and remains in the active care of the McGrory family, who set great store by the traditions of hospitality while also keeping an eye on changing tastes and the requirements of a fast-moving society.
It is now a pleasing combination of old and new which is easy on the eye, and includes an evening restaurant as well as the bar where informal meals are served.
Accommodation is offered in comfortable bedrooms that vary in size and outlook, but are all attractively furnished in a classic contemporary style, with well-planned bathrooms and all the necessary amenities (phone, tea/coffee tray, TV).
For anyone touring the Inishowen peninsula this is a logical place to take a break, as popular bar food is available throughout the day.
But it is probably for music that McGrory’s is most famous - as well as traditional sessions in The Front Bar, live music is available every weekend in The Backroom Bar (constructed on the site of the old outhouses of McGrory’s shop) is a major venue for live shows featuring international names.
