Julie Kenny’s delightful 2-storey coffee house and informal restaurant in the centre of Mullingar is attractively set up - the first floor area is particularly pleasing, with a seating area of sofas, low tables and plants at the top of the stairs setting a relaxed tone. The rest is more conventionally furnished in café style - and a more comfortable height for eating a real meal.
Menus cater for all the changing moods though the day, beginning with an extensive breakfast, including the full traditional, then there are the mid-day bites like home-made soup, panini, steak baguettes, and much more.
More predictably, there’s a nice little drinks menu offering everything from big glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice through iced teas, smoothies, teas - and, of course, coffees (Java Republic), any way you like, including flavoured coffees.
Everything is deliciously fresh and wholesome, staff are charming and efficient, with reasonable prices. Takeaway also available. Wine licence.
Seats 60. Open Mon-Sat 9am-5.30pm. Children welcome; toilets wheelchair accessible; air conditioning. Closed Sun, Christmas & bank hols. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser.
