Beautifully located right beside the beach at Woodstown Strand and snugged down in sand dunes for shelter, Sheila Molloy’s early 19th century lodge is built on the mezzanine plan, with reception rooms on the upper floor and bedrooms beneath - and it has wonderful views from the upper windows right across the Suir estuary, to Duncannon and the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford.
Set in large and very private gardens, it has the feeling of a secret place - on arrival you almost wonder if you are in the right place at all and, although Sheila describes it modestly as ‘comfortably furnished’ it has great style and, like Sheila herself - who is an artist and a warmly hospitable person - this lovely house will lift the spirits.
Reception rooms and bedrooms are all large and well proportioned, providing a good framework for her inspired modern classical décor and guests will be pleased to find that, along with other interests including gardening and horses, she enjoys cooking and entertaining.
Dinner is available on most nights by arrangement (book 24 hours in advance); when unavailable you can go to Dunmore East, just three miles away.
On site there is swimming and beach or coastal walks, and other activities like sea fishing, sailing, riding and golf are all available nearby.
