Although it's right on a busy road and lacks the pretty setting associated with Avoca shops outside the city, this purpose-built lifestyle emporium is airy and colourful, with all the by now famous Avoca sections offering lovely shopping areas that are ideal for gifts and showcasing the best of Irish goods.
A large enticing food hall with plenty of natural light looks out onto newly landscaped gardens, and upstairs there are two restaurants; The Birdcage which is self-service and the Egg Café (for reservations 01 257 1810) with table service.
They share a large outdoor terrace, which is very popular when the weather allows - and has lovely views of the Dublin Mountains.
Both restaurants tend to be very busy, but friendly staff and lovely food will compensate for any delays; as in the other Avoca cafés, you will be spoiled for choice of wholesome dishes from the well-designed self-service counters.
A cut above an instore café (even for Avoca), the Egg Café is making its mark as a destination restaurant, which is ideal for both the store and the neighbourhood.
A perfect place to go for delicious food, with ample parking.
