Introducing my new capsule collection of retro Recipe Christmas Cards…!
The idea for these cards came about because I always look out for food related Christmas cards and noticed that they’ve become pretty well extinct in recent years. So I decided to do something about it and put together a small collection of five featuring some of my favourite traditional Christmas dishes from my own cookbooks – with the recipe given on the back.
All the recipes on my Christmas cards can be made right up to Christmas – even the Christmas Pudding, as long as it’s thoroughly cooked; it will just be a slightly lighter colour than usual.
My gorgeous White Christmas Cake is perfect for last minute baking, and so are the Buche de Noel (chocolate yule log) and Mincemeat Star Pies - if using bought mincemeat, try adding some finely chopped apple to give it a fresh ‘homemade’ flavour.
There’s also a handsome whole ham (see below), which is especially delicious if you use Highbank Orchard Syrup for the glaze, although honey is also fine.
Sales will support Temple Street Children’s Hospital (details, including the charity number, are given inside the card). I chose Temple Street because we’re grateful that they’ve always been there for us as a family when we’ve needed them, and the staff are fantastic.
It would be hugely appreciated if you could give this project your support and I’m sure you’ll enjoy its tasty treats too!
